New toy creates buzz at OB&K
Middle School Students visit OB&K
Last month, a group of middle school students, whose school theme was “perspectives”, came to O’Brien & Keane to learn about the architect’s perspective—what the world looks like through their eyes, and what they do on a daily basis. Jim led a class discussion on the critical elements of design, and then challenged them to design a house for a fictional client, Mary Rider (a merry writer), who had very specific desires for her home, including a circular bedroom and a Juliet balcony. The students spread out throughout the office and started their projects, with staff circulating the office to offer feedback, advice, and cookies!

Travels in Italy
Jim is in Italy this month for continuing education, vendor meetings and family fun. While there, he is practicing up on pencil sketches: here are two scenes from Venice.

We are very grateful to Mrs. O’Grady for getting us our new windows and allowing us to specify them. We went with EFCO Series 810i Thermal Strutted Outswing Casements in dark bronze anodized, and PPG 1” Clear Starphire/Solarban 60 tempered glass. Next up: removal of the Mardi Gras beads and trash bags from the trees
